Frontend Developer Skills for Freshers
30 Oct 2026
Frontend employers want to see that you can turn a requirement into a usable interface. The strongest foundation is semantic HTML, CSS layout, JavaScript and attention to accessibility and responsive behaviour.
Skills to practise
- Semantic elements and keyboard-friendly forms
- Responsive layout with Flexbox and Grid
- JavaScript state, events and asynchronous requests
- API integration and error states
- Git, browser developer tools and basic testing
Show your work
Build projects with loading, empty and error states, not only a static screenshot. Explain your design decisions and test the interface on small screens. Add a framework only when you understand what it is helping you organise.
Put the best project bullets in the resume builder and check the result against frontend roles.
Common questions
Do frontend freshers need React?
Many roles request it, but browser fundamentals remain important. Learn React when it matches your target roles.
Are design skills required?
Basic layout, readability, accessibility and responsive thinking are useful even when you are not a designer.
