Java Developer Roadmap for Freshers
30 Oct 2026
Start Java development with the language and object-oriented programming, not a framework checklist. Learn how data is represented, how errors are handled and how to test the code.
Core path
Practise collections, exceptions, interfaces, classes, file handling and basic problem solving. Add SQL, Git and HTTP. Then learn Spring Boot or another framework used by the roles you are targeting, including routing, validation, persistence and authentication.
Project evidence
Build a small REST service, connect it to a database, validate requests and write tests for important behaviour. Document endpoints and setup. Mention only the tools you used meaningfully on your resume.
Use the builder to present your Java projects and the checker to compare the resume with a job post.
Common questions
Is Core Java enough for a developer job?
It is the foundation. Many roles also expect databases, APIs and a framework, so check the job description.
Should freshers learn Spring Boot?
It is useful for roles that request it, but learn Java and web fundamentals before relying on the framework.
