Technical Skills for IT Fresher Resume (Grouped by Role)

30 Oct 2026

The skills section is one of the first things recruiters and resume filters scan. A long, unsorted list makes it harder to read. Group skills, keep them relevant to the role and list only what you can defend in an interview.

Simple rule

If a skill is on your resume, you should be able to point to a project, course work or task where you used it.

Web developer

  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React
  • Node.js/Express or Django (one backend is enough)
  • MySQL or MongoDB, REST APIs, Git

Java developer

  • Java, OOP, Collections
  • Spring Boot, JDBC/JPA
  • MySQL, Maven, Git, Postman

Python developer

  • Python, Django or Flask
  • SQL, REST APIs
  • Git, Linux basics

Data analyst

  • Excel, SQL
  • Python (Pandas), Power BI or Tableau
  • Basic statistics

Software testing

  • Manual testing, test cases, bug reporting
  • Selenium basics, SQL
  • JIRA or similar tool

Soft skills

Skip a list of adjectives. Show communication or teamwork through a project or event you led.

Find missing skills

Paste the target job description into the ResumePakad checker. It shows which job skills your resume already shows and which are missing — and it never suggests adding a skill you don't have.

Common questions

How many skills should a fresher list?

Usually 8–15 relevant skills, grouped by type, are easier to read than a long list.

Should I rate my skills with stars or bars?

Avoid it. Ratings are subjective and can be hard for resume filters to read.

Should I include MS Office?

Only if the role needs it, such as data or support roles.
